C-band

C-band refers to the part of the electromagnetic spectrum reserved for satellite broadcasts in the frequency range of 4 GHz to 8 GHz. C-band satellite dishes are often used in regions of the world where the signal can be degraded due to heavy rain or other severe weather conditions. Typically, C-band satellite dishes are 1.8 to 2.4 meters in size. C-band satellite communications are less affected by rain attenuation, but require large antennas and are widely used in Asia and Latin America. See also antenna, frequency bands, kaband, kuband and satellite dish.
