X86
If you're familiar with computer hardware, you've probably seen the term. Basically, x86 is the name of a type of processor architecture that has become popular by Intel and is used in the vast majority of PCs. (Newer 64-bit x86 processors are sometimes referred to as x64 or x8664 chips, but they still fall under the definition of x86.) The Intel Pentium, Celeron, and Core lines, as well as AMD processors, are x86-based processors. You won't find x86 on many Android smartphones or tablets, but the ones that use Intel Atom processors are based on the x86 architecture.
